A friend was visiting from another country, and his Mac didn't start up -- just a black screen. I called a couple big shops in Mpls., and they charged a (big) flat fee before even determining the cause, then would charge a flat fee no matter what the fix (they wouldn't quote me an hourly rate). This was a Sunday, and they couldn't even look at the Mac until Wed., soon before my friend had to leave the country.
I called Truong and left a message. He not only called back on Sun., but said he could take a look. He offered to come to my home, but I felt the least I could do on a Sun. was take the Mac to him. I asked if he wanted us to leave it with him, but he said he'd check it then if we had the time.
He immediately honed in on a couple possibilities, and fixed the issue in a matter of minutes. He also had some memory cards, which he offered at a very reasonable price, and installed them, fixing the issue and doubling the memory. He also fixed a couple annoying app issues. He charged us for 1/2 hr., which was less than the time we were actually there.
I have total confidence in his expertise(worked with IT guys in Silicon Valley for 25 yrs), and he's completely honest, honorable, and kind.
Needless to say, it was a huge relief to my friend and, when he returns in the Spring, he plans to have Truong replace his old hard drive.

Sunday, 18 July 2010 21:42 posted by Will My mac had been beat up pretty badly. After going to Apple and being quoted over $500 I wasn't sure if I could afford to repair it. After searching the internet I found Truong, who not only helped me find the same replacement parts at a much lower cost, but also worked with me around my busy schedule. He made the repairs (new keyboard, optical drive and other updates) in less than 3 hours, and for less than half the cost of what apple quoted me.
All in all Truong does great work, and I couldn't recommend him highly enough. I will definitely be sure to reach out to him with any computer problems that mar arise n the future.
Thanks Truong, my laptop is like new again!

My 5 year old MacBook Pro was on it’s way out due to a failing hard drive and I wanted it replaced and formatted as it was since I didn’t want to start from scratch by having to reinstall everything – or worse yet purchase a new computer. Finding someone that will even touch a Macintosh outside of an Apple Store is close to impossible – if not very out of the way, inconvenient and expensive. Truong picked up and delivered at my convenience and the small amount I paid for that extra service truly made me smile. I have a brand new Mac with double the RAM (which I found out was upgradable – thank you, Truong!) My husband’s Dell needs some attention and we’ll be asking Truong back very soon to install some new hardware on-site. I would definitely recommend Truong to anyone needing any type of computer repair, diagnostic analysis or upgrade.

My computer was completely disabled by a virus when I found The IT Sage on the internet. I decided to call Truong and he calmly explained that he was sure he could fix my problem and backup all my files. A day after giving my computer to Truong, I got back a faster computer with all my files backed up, viruses eliminated and a brand new CD ROM all for a fraction of what I was quoted at other local computer repair outfits. My PC was locking up due to insufficient memory. Truong diasabled the programs/files I have no use for, and added more memory for a very reasonable price. I strongly recomend Truong "The IT Sage" for your computer problems.

I was so impressed with his quick response and ability to make a "house call" and ready diagnosis. Within days, he replaced my hard drive and then my CD drive. I brought it to Truong and he had the hard drive backed up and my computer running again in a little less than two hours at a cost well below what it would have cost for the Geek Squad. I'm very happy with the service provided. Truong is very knowledgeable and explained thoroughly what he fixed. If you want quality affordable pc repair the IT Sage is it. I've been recommending him to everyone.

Truong Nguyen, aka The IT Sage, helped me out in a wonderfully personal way. He actually drove through the cold, snowy weather and came to my home and to replace my CD drive, all for a fraction of the Mac store in Roseville quoted. Truong was very professional, knowledgeable, friendly, and incredibly easy to work with. There are only a few things in life that work really well (e.g. Macs, Tivo, Snap-On Tools), and now I can add the IT Sage to the list! Truong works out of his home in St Paul, and is even willing to come to your site, if you wish. Like he did with me, he's also willing to let you buy the part, which means that the parts cost is a fraction of what it would be if you went to the manufacturer. I recommend the IT Sage's computer repair services 100%!

After being told I should junk our family i-book by another computer guy, I persevered in searching for reasonable repair/replacement of the hard drive. The Guy was IT! I write this recommendation on our i-book as it sits on my lap and am grateful for the honest and professional service Truong provided. He saved us $ and allowed the 3R's--this computer won't be placed in a landfill for years to come! Go IT Sage! :-)

He took care of getting the hard drive, installing it and also getting OS X software reinstalled so that I was all up and running when I got my computer back. I would definitely recommend him to anybody with computer problems. Well worth it!!

Truong is the only of three computer guys that took the time to determine the original wireless adapter worked fine; it was the computer’s software that had a problem. He did a complete system restore and updated the necessary drivers, and all is well! The Apple dealer told me it would be $200 + $85 labor to install a new hard drive and, if I was interested in trying to recover the data, I’d have to take the computer to Eden Prairie (data recovery company) first before they’d be able to swap out the hard drive. I found Truong using Google and he was AMAZING! He’s so nice & polite and really explains things well. He was able to install a new hard drive, an external hard drive (both with twice the memory of the old one), the newest operating system software and some necessary programs—for about the same price as what Apple would charge for the hard drive ALONE. His price also included his labor and travel fees. I would recommend Truong to anyone who needs help with their computer……he was really great to work with and got me ‘up and running’ in less than 24 hours after my initial call to him. I had spoken with several other computer repair businesses, and their estimate fee alone to diagnose the problem was outrageous. So I was pleasantly surprised by The IT Sage’s guarantee that if he couldn’t fix it, I wouldn’t have to pay. Luckily, he did fix it though – and at a fraction of the cost. My computer was running Windows and had been infected with a virus and a lot of malware and spyware programs. I called him up and scheduled an appointment the same day (keep in mind I live about 50 minutes from the Twin Cities). Before I knew it, the two-month long nightmare of dealing with my computer had been solved. I really appreciated Truong’s friendliness and patience explaining what the problems were and what he did to fix them. My computer now runs faster than ever. I’d recommend The IT Sage to anyone who wants friendly, fast service!

I was receiving thousands of emails on some type of “loop” that Comcast IT could not resolve. Comcast finally said it must be the router and to purchase a new one. Truong your ability to quickly analyze and inexpensively repair our computers is greatly appreciated. Your recent repair of my laptop that I plugged into a 240 volt outlet on our overseas trip is a case in point. The geek squad’s analysis fee was $75 and their repair estimate was $150 to $350. In one trip to our home you repaired the laptop for much less than what would have cost with the Geek Squad. Thank you !
